Carlton Maynard Burdick of Kirkwood, New York, was reunited with his hunting and fishing buddies John, Leon and Rudy and with his son Carl Jr. on January 15, 2024.  Carl was born at Brandt, Pennsylvania on September 14, 1938, the son of Lloyd M. and Juanita A. (Monell) Burdick.  He graduated from Susquehanna Consolidated High School, Susquehanna, Pennsylvania in 1956 and that fall enlisted in the U. S. Navy.  His last two years of service were onboard the auxiliary repair ship Ajax (AR-6) of the 7th Fleet, and he was honorably discharged in September 1959 with a rank of IC3.  Beginning in 1960, Carl was employed for six years by the Erie Lackawanna Railroad in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania and Port Jervis and Binghamton, New York.  He held several positions, including yard switchman and clerk; train, brake and flagman, and yard conductor.  In 1967, he decided to pursue further education and obtained an AAS degree in Automobile Technology from the State University at Morrisville, New York in 1969.  Three years later, he graduated from the State College at Buffalo, New York with a BS in Industrial Arts.  Carl was employed as an Industrial Arts teacher at Montrose Area High School, Montrose, Pennsylvania for 20 years starting in 1972.  He had a lifelong love of hunting and fishing and pursued these hobbies with a passion along with his pals Bob, Ed and Rich.  He also enjoyed the New York Yankees (especially when they were winning) and playing Sudoku.  He was predeceased by his son Carl M. Burdick Jr. in 2019.  He is survived by his wife Donna, daughter-in-law Valerie Burdick, granddaughter Cara Burdick, three great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law and several cousins.  

There will be no calling hours.  In the spring, Carlton will be interred at the Peterboro Cemetery, Peterboro, New York, when a celebration of his life will be held.  Express condolences online at www.SavageFS.com.
